Ogun State Police Arrest Woman Linked to Repainting Stolen Minibus
Ogun State authorities have detained a 22-year-old woman, Azeez Khadijat, in connection with the alleged repainting of a suspected stolen Suzuki minibus. The arrest was confirmed on Tuesday by Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Ogun State Command.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on Sunday, April 19, around 4:00 p.m. Detectives acted on actionable intelligence, receiving reports of three men and a woman seen painting a Suzuki minibus, commonly referred to as “Korope,” in a bush along Ikhasi Road in Kajola, Omu. The vehicle was reportedly devoid of registration markings at the time.
Investigators revealed that the minibus, which was originally yellow, was being repainted to white and blue, a move believed to camouflage its identity. Upon detecting the suspects, police operatives were deployed to the scene. However, the suspects fled into nearby foliage, leaving Khadijat behind, where she was apprehended inside the vehicle.
The minibus has since been secured at the police station and identified with a registration number from Lagos State. A subsequent search of the area yielded several items believed to belong to the fugitives, including three mobile phones, a power bank, a container of paint, sandpaper, and a Type-C charging cable.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the vehicle may have been utilized in criminal activities in Lagos State, with repainting efforts aimed at evading law enforcement scrutiny.
Police are actively pursuing the remaining suspects. The case has been referred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further examination and prosecution.
Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni praised the operatives for their swift action and professionalism, assuring the public that efforts will continue until all individuals involved are apprehended and brought to justice.
