Katsina State Police Repel Armed Bandit Attack, Arrest Suspect

KATSINA, Nigeria — The Katsina State Police Command reported that it successfully repelled an armed bandit attack on two communities in Dandume Local Government Area and arrested a suspected gang member.

Abubakar Aliyu, spokesperson for the police command, confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday. He noted that the attack took place on April 28, 2026, at approximately 10:00 p.m.

According to Aliyu, armed bandits invaded the villages of Unguwar Bido and Unguwar Kanawa. A distress call prompted a rapid response from law enforcement.

The Divisional Police Officer in Dandume mobilized officers to the scene, where they engaged the attackers in a gunfight, ultimately repelling the assault. During the operation, police arrested one suspect, while several attackers fled with injuries.

Aliyu also reported that two residents sustained gunshot wounds during the attack and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. He encouraged local residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to security agencies to support ongoing operations.
