Operatives from the “A” Division in Ughelli, Delta State, have successfully thwarted a kidnapping attempt involving a pastor and a retired school principal. The operation resulted in the arrest of one suspect.
According to a statement from Delta State Police Public Relations Officer Bright Edafe, a single-barrel gun and two live cartridges were recovered from the suspect.

On July 31, 2026, police acted on credible intelligence regarding a plot by Jeremiah Kwane, 26, who allegedly attempted to recruit an individual into a kidnapping syndicate. The information prompted immediate action by the police, leading to Kwane’s arrest at his duty post in Ughelli.
Edafe confirmed that a search conducted during the operation yielded the recovery of the firearm and cartridges. The investigation is ongoing.
