Nigeria Police Launch Manhunt Following Double Homicide in Kebbi State
KEBBI, Nigeria — The Nigeria Police Force has initiated a manhunt for the armed assailants responsible for the murder of a couple in Asarara village early Saturday morning.
According to police reports, gunmen entered the residence of Muhammad Haruna and his wife, Habiba Abubakar, shortly after 5:30 a.m. and fatally shot them.
Bashir Usman, the Police Public Relations Officer for Kebbi State, confirmed the details of the incident and stated that investigations are underway to locate the perpetrators. He noted that the bodies of the victims have been transferred to a hospital in Birnin Kebbi for examination as part of the investigation process.
“As I speak to you, the bodies are in one of the hospitals in Birnin Kebbi for further investigation and examination to help unravel those behind the act,” Usman said.
He urged members of the community to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement by providing any useful information that could assist in the investigation.
Residents described the deceased as a peaceful couple who had no known conflicts in the area. The couple is survived by six children.
