Kogi Police Arrest Man with Suspected Drugs
A 52-year-old man was arrested by the Kogi State Police Command on May 9, 2026, in Kabba, located in the Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, for possessing 339 wraps of a substance believed to be Indian hemp.
Police Commissioner Naziru Kankarofi announced the arrest during a news briefing on Tuesday. He attributed the operation to intelligence-led policing and strategic stop-and-search efforts, which led to the interception of a Honda Pilot Jeep, plate number LSD 456 GE, at approximately 2:00 PM.
Kankarofi reported that the vehicle was driven by Chris Amos, with Bilat Joseph as a passenger. A thorough search of the vehicle uncovered the concealed wraps of the suspected illicit substance.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects claimed to have picked up the consignment in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, at the direction of an individual identified only as “Alhaji.” The intended destination for the drugs was stated to be Yola in Adamawa State.
Both suspects remain in police custody, and the drugs have been secured as investigations proceed. Kankarofi emphasized that authorities are committed to the diligent prosecution of those involved and to locating additional members of the criminal network.
