Gujba, Yobe State — Authorities with the Yobe State Police Command have apprehended two individuals believed to be members of a kidnapping syndicate in an operation that also resulted in the recovery of 26 stolen goats.

The arrests occurred following the reported abduction of Idi Musa from Kolmamaji Village on July 7, 2026. According to a press statement from Police Public Relations Officer SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the Gujba Divisional Police Headquarters received a complaint regarding an armed assault and the subsequent kidnapping. Musa’s motorcycle was also taken during the incident.

In response, police mobilized to conduct coordinated search-and-rescue operations, which included gathering intelligence to locate the victim and apprehend the suspects.

Musa managed to escape from his captors on July 10, 2026, and reported his ordeal to the police. His information significantly aided the investigation, leading to the arrest of two suspects, identified as 23-year-old Musa Damuna and 21-year-old Yusufa Muhammad Bello, both from Mutai Ward in Gujba Local Government Area.

During the operation, authorities also discovered 26 goats believed to be stolen. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had disposed of Musa’s motorcycle prior to their capture. Efforts are ongoing to locate and recover the motorcycle and to identify additional members of the syndicate who remain at large.

The suspects are currently in police custody and will face prosecution upon the completion of the investigation.
