Plateau State Police Neutralize Suspected Kidnapper, Recover Weapon
JOS, Nigeria – Operatives of the Plateau State Police Command have neutralized a suspected kidnapper and seized an AK-47 rifle in Gindri, located in the Mangu Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson Alfred Alabo reported the development in a statement on Friday. He noted that detectives from the Gindiri Division were engaged in an operation on Wednesday when they were attacked while tracking a criminal group in the Changal community.
According to Alabo, the armed gang was led by Ibrahim Abdullahi, a suspect known for terrorizing local communities. During an exchange of gunfire, one member of the gang was killed.
Police recovered an AK-47 rifle with 16 rounds of live ammunition and a Redmi mobile phone from the neutralized suspect. Alabo stated that the case has been forwarded to the Violent Crimes Response Unit (VCRU) for further investigation. Upon completion of the inquiry, the suspect’s accomplices will face prosecution in court.
Commissioner of Police Bassey Ewah praised the bravery and professionalism of the police operatives involved. He reassured residents of the state’s commitment to eliminating criminal elements and urged the public to assist security agencies with timely information to enhance ongoing crime-fighting efforts.
