Three Suspected Kidnappers Killed in Oyo State Police Operation
OYO STATE, Nigeria — Three individuals suspected of involvement in kidnapping activities were killed by members of the Oyo State Police Command in the Otu area of Itesiwaju local government on Tuesday, according to a statement from the department’s Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade.
In a coordinated effort with local hunters, police operatives also rescued a kidnapping victim identified as Mosudi Gbolagade, who had been abducted in Okaka town. Gbolagade, approximately 50 years old, was held captive in the Otu region before his rescue.
Ayanlade confirmed that while Gbolagade was rescued, he sustained gunshot wounds during the operation. He has been taken for urgent medical care and is currently receiving treatment.
The operation resulted in injuries to one of the local hunters involved, who also suffered gunshot wounds during the confrontation and has been admitted to a hospital for medical attention.
The police report emphasizes ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and enhance community safety in the region.
