Taraba State Police Recover Stolen Vehicle in Jalingo
The Taraba State Police Command announced the recovery of a stolen Toyota Highlander on Tuesday evening in Jalingo. The vehicle was reportedly abandoned by its suspects due to heightened security measures implemented across the city.
According to a statement from police spokesperson Victor Mshelizah, the grey Toyota Highlander, bearing registration number KRM 75 AA, was taken at approximately 8:16 PM near the Jalingo City Mall, located on Road Block.
In response to the theft, police launched an immediate investigation, enhancing surveillance and monitoring at key entry and exit points throughout the Jalingo metropolitan area. The command noted that the increased police presence and strategic officer deployment pressured the fleeing suspects, prompting them to dispose of the vehicle to evade capture.
The recovered vehicle is currently in police custody as investigations continue. Authorities are actively working to identify and apprehend those responsible for the theft, assuring residents that all resources will be mobilized to facilitate justice.
State Commissioner of Police Moorkwap Sebastian Dongshal praised the officers for their swift and vigilant actions and reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property while addressing criminal activities throughout the state.
The police also encouraged the public to remain alert and promptly report any suspicious activities to law enforcement.
