Television Host Criticizes First Lady over Charity Appeal

Rufai Oseni, an anchor with Arise Television, has criticized First Lady Oluremi Tinubu following her recent appeal to musicians to reduce spending on luxury vehicles and allocate more resources to charitable initiatives.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Sunday, Oseni questioned the First Lady’s perspective, suggesting that she should first consider reducing the size of her own motorcade before urging others to contribute more to societal welfare.

“The president’s wife says musicians should buy fewer Ferraris and spend more on charity. Can government officials also reduce their convoy?” Oseni wrote.

His comments were made in response to the First Lady’s remarks at the launch of the National Community Food Bank in Lokoja, Kogi State. During the event, she called on prominent Nigerian artists, including Davido, Burna Boy, and Asake, to create charitable foundations and invest in helping vulnerable communities.

The First Lady emphasized that the government alone cannot address the vast challenges facing Nigeria.
