Remi Tinubu’s viral advice not for Yahoo-boys, Obidients – APC chieftain Ayekooto

APC Chieftain Defends First Lady’s Business Advice Amid Controversy
Ayekooto Akindele, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has come to the defense of Nigerian First Lady, Remi Tinubu, amid backlash regarding her recent comments on small business ventures. In a viral video, Tinubu encouraged women to engage in simple entrepreneurial activities, such as frying akara and selling roasted corn and kulikuli.
The video sparked criticism from social media users, who perceived the First Lady’s remarks as dismissive of unemployed youth in Nigeria. Many argued that her suggestions lacked understanding of the challenges faced by young Nigerians in today’s job market.
In response to the criticism, Akindele took to his official X account on Saturday to clarify the intent behind Tinubu’s advice. He emphasized that the remarks were directed toward those living in poverty who seek to maintain dignity while earning a living through lawful means.
“Every petty business Remi Tinubu mentioned is patronized daily by virtually every home in Nigeria,” Akindele stated. He further asserted that even those who engage in internet fraud, commonly referred to as “yahooboys,” consume such products, yet view these entrepreneurial pursuits as beneath them.
Akindele concluded that Tinubu’s message was aimed at encouraging individuals facing economic hardships, promoting the idea that dignity can be found in honest labor.
