Rescued Oyo Schoolchildren and Teachers Return to Ibadan
IBADAN, Oyo State — The schoolchildren and teachers rescued from captivity arrived at the office of Governor Seyi Makinde in Ibadan on Friday.
The victims were welcomed at the Executive Council Chambers of the Governor’s Office, where government officials, security leaders, and other dignitaries were present.
The group was abducted on May 15 and was held for more than 50 days before regaining their freedom on July 10. Their release followed extensive efforts by security agencies.
Tragically, one of the teachers was beheaded by the kidnappers days after the initial abduction.
