Human Rights Organization Petitions Police Over Alleged Child Abuse Case
The Ontop Cares Human Rights Organization (OCHRO) has formally approached the Delta State Police Command regarding allegations of abuse and assault involving a two-year-old child, Blessing Obi.
In a petition dated August 27, 2026, OCHRO’s Director-General, Comrade Ajemba Stanley, accused the child’s biological father, Obi Lotachukwu Kennedy, of subjecting her to violent treatment. The organization is calling for an immediate investigation into these claims.
The petition outlines serious allegations, including physical assault, child abuse, and acts that pose a significant risk to the child’s safety. OCHRO claims to possess evidence that substantiates these allegations and is prepared to share it with law enforcement for further examination.
According to the organization, the severity of the evidence could suggest potential charges of attempted murder. They emphasized that more offenses may come to light as the investigation progresses.
Due to the age and vulnerability of Blessing, OCHRO has urged police to take swift action to ensure her protection from further harm. The organization has requested that investigators summon the suspect for questioning, facilitate a medical examination for the child if needed, and gather statements from relevant witnesses. They have also called for the preservation of all pertinent evidence, including photographs, videos, medical records, and communication related to the case.
OCHRO has recommended that the investigation be handled by the appropriate Criminal Investigation Department or the Juvenile, Women, and Children/Gender-Based Violence Unit for a more specialized review.
The organization stated that if sufficient evidence of criminal wrongdoing is found, the suspect should be charged in a competent court. They also requested updates on the investigation’s progress, while recognizing the need for confidentiality as appropriate.
OCHRO reaffirmed that the child’s well-being is their primary concern, asserting that being a parent does not excuse violent behavior. The organization pledged full cooperation with the Nigeria Police Force in providing any evidence needed to facilitate the investigation.
