Russia Intensifies Attacks on Ukraine, Casualties Reported

Russia has intensified its military offensive against Ukraine over the past 24 hours, with substantial attacks occurring overnight Thursday and into early Friday. At least one individual has been killed, and multiple others have sustained injuries.

A drone strike late Thursday targeted port infrastructure in the Odesa region, resulting in injuries to two people in the Black Sea port city of Odesa. Regional Governor Oleh Kiper confirmed the details Friday morning via the Telegram messaging app. He reported that two high-rise residential buildings were severely damaged, leading to destroyed apartments and fires.

“This night, Russia again massively attacked the civilian infrastructure of the Odesa region,” Kiper stated. Emergency services are currently aiding those affected by the drone strikes.

In addition to Odesa, the Russian military launched drone attacks on the shipbuilding town of Mykolaiv. Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych reported via Facebook that the strikes caused damage to private properties and initiated a fire, prompting residents to take shelter as the threat remains active.

In a counter-offensive, Ukraine conducted its fourth drone strike within a week on Russia’s Black Sea port of Tuapse on Thursday night, targeting Russian energy infrastructure in an effort to disrupt oil revenues. The General Headquarters in Krasnodar reported a fire at the seaport terminal resulting from the attack, with emergency crews dispatched to address the situation.

Russia Strikes Central Ukraine

Further inland, the Russian military reportedly attacked three districts in the Dnipropetrovsk region using drones and artillery. Oleksandr Ganzha, head of the Regional Military Administration, detailed that the Kryvyi Rih area suffered damage, with one injury reported.

Strikes were also noted in the Synelnyky district and within the Dubovykivska and Petropavlivska communities, resulting in the burning of a garage and damage to several residences.

In the Nikopol district, impacts were reported in Nikopol, Marhanetska, and Chervonohryhorivska. Damage included a private home, a petrol station, an administrative building, and various vehicles.

Meanwhile, drone attacks have persisted in Kherson, affecting the areas of Kherson, Zymivnyk, Komyshany, and Zelenivka. Yaroslav Shanko, head of Ukraine’s Defence Ministry, reported via Telegram that four settlements in the Kherson community experienced bombardments over the past day. These attacks resulted in one fatality and eight injuries, along with significant damage to residential structures, administrative buildings, warehouses, buses, and civilian vehicles.
