Three Suspected Bandits Arrested in Sokoto State
Security operatives in the Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State apprehended three men believed to be affiliated with a bandit group. The arrest occurred on April 29 at approximately 10 a.m. along the Tangaza–Gidan Madi road, following credible intelligence regarding a planned attack in the vicinity.
Local sources have identified the suspects as Aliyu Bello, 30; Dahiru Umar, 25; and Bashar Isah, 29, all residents of Kwazari village in Kware Local Government Area. The men were reportedly stopped while riding a motorcycle and were found to have connections to a group involved in kidnappings and extortion activities.
Authorities recovered a range of weapons from the suspects, including a locally made AK-47 rifle, a magazine containing 17 rounds of ammunition, two Dane guns, two 32 mm cartridges, and several charms. The firearms were concealed in a sack placed inside another bag to evade detection.
Investigations are currently ongoing to identify additional members of the group and to mitigate further criminal activities in the region.
