Security operatives foil bandit attack in Katsina
Security forces thwarted an attempted attack by armed bandits on a community watch and hunters’ base in Sukunkumi village, located in the Kankia Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The incident occurred around 7:30 PM on March 26, involving approximately 15 heavily armed assailants who arrived on motorcycles. According to sources familiar with the situation, security teams swiftly responded to the scene and engaged the attackers in a gun battle, compelling them to retreat into nearby foliage.
During the incident, three motorcycles were recovered, including two taken from hunters during the confrontation. A member of the Community Watch, identified as 30-year-old Yusuf Ibrahim, sustained a gunshot wound to his left leg and was subsequently transported to General Hospital Kankia for medical treatment.
In the wake of the attack, security forces have increased patrols and initiated clearance operations in the area to locate the fleeing suspects and to prevent further incidents.
