Supreme Court orders lawyers to comply with directive on digital filing of cases

Nigerian Supreme Court Mandates Document Submission for Upcoming Hearings

The Supreme Court of Nigeria has directed all legal practitioners with cases scheduled for hearing from September to December 2026 to upload relevant court documents via the Nigerian Case Management System (NCMS).

In a statement issued Tuesday in Abuja, Chief Registrar Kabir Eniola Akanbi emphasized that this directive aligns with Rule 10(1) of the Supreme Court Practice Direction, 2026.

Akanbi outlined the necessary steps for attorneys to access the list of appeals and motions set for hearing. Counsel must upload all pertinent filings—such as records of appeal, briefs of argument, pending motions, and any other submitted materials—at least 30 days before the scheduled hearing date, as required by the Supreme Court guidelines.

Lawyers are urged to adhere strictly to this directive to ensure the efficient operation of the NCMS and to promote the timely resolution of cases.
