Three arrested in Katsina over alleged drug supply to terrorists
Nigerian Army, NDLEA Arrest Three Suspected Drug Traffickers in Katsina
KATSINA, Nigeria — Troops from the Nigerian Army, in coordination with operatives from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), arrested three individuals accused of supplying illicit drugs to terrorists and other criminal groups in Katsina State.
The arrests occurred during a joint operation at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday in Kagara village, located in the Kafur Local Government Area. Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported the details in a post shared on X.
Military sources indicated that the operation was executed by personnel from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Malumfashi alongside members of the NDLEA Area Command in Malumfashi. The operation primarily targeted locations suspected of being drug distribution points within the community, as part of broader efforts to combat the supply of illegal substances to criminal elements in the region.
The arrested individuals were identified as Mohammed Lawan, 34; Muhawiya Haruna, 40; and Junadata Usman, 40. Authorities recovered various items from the suspects, including substances believed to be cannabis sativa, tramadol capsules, pregabalin, diazepam, Extol-5 tablets, rubber solution, and “Suck and Die” spirit.
Preliminary investigations suggested that the suspects were involved in distributing hard drugs and other intoxicating substances to individuals engaged in terrorism and crime within Kafur and surrounding areas, according to the sources cited by Makama.
Following their apprehension, the suspects, along with the seized items, were transferred to the NDLEA Area Command in Malumfashi for further investigation and potential prosecution.
This operation is part of ongoing initiatives by security agencies aimed at dismantling the logistical and supply networks that facilitate terrorism and other criminal activities across Katsina State.
