Tinubu’s aide questions Obi’s leadership, insists presidency not behind ADC crisis

Tinubu’s Aide Questions Obi’s Leadership; Denies Presidential Involvement in ADC Crisis

Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communication, has challenged Peter Obi’s leadership capabilities, claiming the former Anambra governor has struggled to resolve internal issues within the Labour Party.

In an interview with African Independent Television (AIT) on Monday, Dare critiqued Obi’s involvement with the party, questioning whether he was its founder or had significant control over it.

“Consider the history of the Labour Party. Did Obi create this party? Was he ever in a position of control?” Dare asked during the broadcast.

Dare further accused Obi of demonstrating a lack of dedication to building the party, asserting that the former presidential candidate has a tendency to move between parties without commitment.

“When the Labour Party faced its challenges nearly two and a half years ago, did Obi take a decisive role in addressing those issues?” he continued. “Instead of working to resolve the problems within his party, he switched allegiances.”

Dare also responded to claims linking the presidency to the current issues within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), emphasizing that the situation is an internal matter that should be resolved through legal means.

“The ADC was taken over, and its founding members are now seeking to reclaim it. In what way is the president involved in this internal crisis?” Dare stated.

He underscored the importance of allowing legal processes to unfold, urging the parties involved to refrain from public protests and agitation.

“There are judicial proceedings underway. The government operates within a democratic framework, and the president has committed to respecting the judiciary,” he said. “If there are ongoing cases in court, why not wait for the legal outcomes rather than engaging in protests or public condemnation?”

Dare asserted that the resolutions of the court would ultimately dictate the direction of the ongoing disputes.

“We must wait, as the court’s judgments will ultimately guide the way forward in these matters,” he concluded.
