Transfer: Liverpool reject offer to sign Vinicius Junior from Real Madrid
Liverpool Pass on Vinicius Junior, Opening Door for Arsenal
Liverpool has opted not to pursue Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior, allowing Arsenal to consider a transfer for the Brazilian international. Vinicius, who has one year remaining on his contract with Madrid, could potentially be available for a free transfer next summer.
Arsenal is weighing its options as it explores the possibility of acquiring the talented player. Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho’s squad has initiated talks to sign Yan Diomande; however, an initial offer of €100 million (£85.4 million) was rejected by RB Leipzig. Liverpool also encountered a similar fate when its €100 million bid for Diomande was turned down this summer. The Bundesliga club is reportedly seeking a fee of €120 million (£102.5 million).
According to talkSPORT, although Liverpool was approached regarding a potential deal for Vinicius Junior, the club has chosen not to engage in meaningful discussions. Instead, it is focusing on bolstering the right side of its attack following the departure of star player Mohamed Salah.
Vinicius Junior had an impressive last season, scoring 22 goals and providing 14 assists. However, Real Madrid finished the season without securing any trophies, marking only the fifth time this century that the club has failed to win silverware.
Currently, the 26-year-old is on vacation after Brazil’s World Cup campaign ended with a loss to Norway in the round of 16, where he scored four goals and registered one assist.
In other news, Real Madrid is also reportedly pursuing a deal for Manchester City midfielder Rodri. The 30-year-old, who captained Spain to victory over Argentina in the World Cup final, is believed to be interested in a return to La Liga.
