Transfer: Man United get greenlight to sign Tosin Adarabioyo from Chelsea

Manchester United has been presented with an opportunity to acquire Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo before the summer transfer window closes.

To date, United has concentrated its efforts on enhancing its central midfield, notably securing the services of Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos, and Carlos Baleba from other Premier League clubs. However, following a disappointing 2-0 loss to Hull City on the season’s opening weekend, the club may now look to strengthen additional areas within its roster.

Transfer journalist Ben Jacobs reports that United is considering Adarabioyo as a rotational option in head coach Michael Carrick’s lineup. The 28-year-old center-back has made 38 Premier League appearances since joining Chelsea on a free transfer from Fulham in 2024.

Despite his experience, Adarabioyo was not included in Chelsea’s matchday squad during their recent 3-2 win over Fulham, his former team. He was close to transferring to United in 2024 but opted instead to sign with Chelsea.

Chelsea has further bolstered its defensive lineup this summer by acquiring Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace for £52 million. The club is also in advanced talks to sign young Atalanta defender Honest Ahanor for approximately £30 million.

Additionally, Manchester United has shown interest in acquiring a left-back this summer to provide support and competition for Luke Shaw as they finalize their squad ahead of the season.
