Nigerian Army Dismantles Suspected Terrorist Enclaves in Katsina

KATUNA, Nigeria — Troops from the Nigerian Army recently conducted a successful clearance operation in Matazu Local Government Area, targeting suspected terrorist hideouts.

The operation occurred at approximately 8:00 a.m. on April 23 and was executed by the 17 Brigade in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force. Security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama reported the details on his social media account.

During the operation, military personnel focused on identified terrorist enclaves located in Malamawa, Jikamshi, and Musawa towns. Although no direct contact was made with suspected terrorists, the troops effectively dismantled the camps, destroyed life-support structures within them, and recovered a motorcycle.

According to security sources, this operation is part of ongoing efforts to limit the operational capabilities of criminal elements in the region. The sources emphasized that troops remain vigilant and are committed to preventing the re-establishment of terrorist camps across Katsina State.
