Troops eliminate suspected bandits in Kwara, recover weapons

Troops Achieve Success in Operation Savannah Shield in Kwara State

Kwara State, Nigeria — Troops engaged in Operation Savannah Shield successfully carried out an offensive against suspected armed criminals in the Patigi Local Government Area. The operation took place around 7:30 a.m. on April 26, primarily in the Latan Daji and Lata Forest regions.

Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency and security expert focused on the Lake Chad region, shared details of the operation on X. According to Makama, the troops encountered bandits during their advance into the forest and entered a gun battle with them.

During the altercation, soldiers recovered three motorcycles left behind by the fleeing criminals. Makama confirmed that the troops secured the recovered items and indicated that follow-up operations are underway to further clear the area and restrict the movement of criminal elements.

The ongoing efforts aim to enhance security in the region and mitigate the activities of armed groups.
