Troops foil terrorist infiltration in Borno, eliminate four insurgents

Troops Thwart Boko Haram Attack in Borno State

Troops from Operation HADIN KAI successfully repelled an attempted infiltration by Boko Haram/ISWAP militants in Kanama, Borno State, neutralizing four insurgents during a rapid response operation.

The incident took place around 6 p.m. on April 22, according to a statement from Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency and security expert focused on the Lake Chad region.

Makama reported that the troops of the 159 Battalion, stationed in Kanama, responded to gunfire detected within the town. Upon arrival, they discovered that insurgents had infiltrated various sections of the community.

In a coordinated effort, the troops engaged the attackers, forcing them to retreat. A follow-up search of the area resulted in the neutralization of four terrorists.

During the encounter, one member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) sustained injuries and has been evacuated for medical treatment.

Authorities recovered several items from the insurgents, including two mobile phones and cash amounting to N21,000.

Makama noted that while the overall security situation in the area remains unpredictable, troop morale and operational efficiency continue to be high.
