Nigerian Troops Repel Terrorist Attack in Sokoto State
SABON BIRNI, Sokoto State — Troops from the 8 Division of the Nigerian Army successfully repelled an attack carried out by suspected terrorists in Garin Hillo Village on April 17. The information was disclosed in a post by security analyst Zagazola Makama.
According to the report, the incident took place in the early hours when soldiers stationed at a Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Gatawa received alerts about terrorist activities in the vicinity. The troops quickly mobilized to the location and engaged the assailants in a gun battle. Ultimately, the attackers were forced to retreat due to the military’s response.
Reports indicate that approximately 30 armed individuals entered the village on foot, firing indiscriminately and instilling fear among the local population. As a result of the confrontation, six civilians sustained injuries and were subsequently transported to the General Hospital in Sabon Birni for medical treatment.
Makama noted that troops have established a robust presence in the area, conducting patrols to deter further attacks and to assure residents of their safety.
