Nigerian Troops Rescue Kidnapped Victims, Intercept Gun Runners in Zamfara State
ZAMFARA, Nigeria — Troops participating in Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued six individuals who were kidnapped and apprehended three suspected gun runners during separate operations in Zamfara State, according to security analyst Bakatsine.
The operations were conducted on Sunday in various locations throughout the state as military forces increased efforts against armed criminal groups.
In one notable operation, troops intercepted a vehicle on the Kaura Namoda-Shinkafi Road, where they arrested three individuals believed to be involved in arms trafficking. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of an AK-103-2 rifle, one magazine, and 30 rounds of ammunition concealed within a bag of millet. Bakatsine reported that these weapons were reportedly en route to Yar-Galadima in the Maru Local Government Area.
In a separate incident, troops responded to an attack on motorists along the Anka-Gummi Road, where armed men attempted to abduct travelers. During the engagement, the troops confronted the assailants, who fled, leaving behind all six intended victims.
Three of the rescued individuals sustained minor injuries and are currently receiving medical attention.
