Troops Rescue Kidnapped Victims, Recover Livestock in Kaduna and Kano States
KADUNA, Nigeria — The Joint Task Force North West, operating under the code name FANSAN YAMMA, announced the successful rescue of two kidnapped individuals and the recovery of 94 stolen livestock during operations on August 25 and 26. These operations took place in Kaduna and Kano states and aimed to disrupt ongoing terrorist activities in the region.
Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer for the task force, stated that during a clearance operation in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, troops encountered a group of terrorists attempting to ambush them. The troops responded with superior firepower, forcing the assailants to retreat. An abandoned motorcycle was later recovered from the ambush site.
In a separate operation in Igabi Local Government Area, the task force responded to a distress call regarding the abduction of three civilians and the rustling of livestock. The troops engaged the suspects, leading to the successful rescue of two female victims, who were subsequently reunited with their families. However, a third male victim suffered a gunshot wound inflicted by the assailants and unfortunately succumbed while being evacuated for medical assistance.
Further actions were taken in Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State, where troops confronted terrorists who had stolen livestock from a local community. The military operation led to the recovery of 94 animals, consisting of 57 cows and 37 sheep, which have been returned to their rightful owners in the presence of local and security agency representatives.
The Joint Task Force emphasized its commitment to combating terrorism and criminal activities in North West Nigeria. The statement highlighted the importance of intelligence-driven operations, rapid response capabilities, and aggressive patrols in protecting residents and their livelihoods.
The task force has urged the public to maintain vigilance and report any suspicious activities to security forces, indicating that community cooperation is crucial for dismantling terrorist networks and restoring peace and security in the region.
