Two feared dead as communal clash rocks Benue communities

At least two people were killed and several homes were destroyed following a violent communal conflict in the Obi Local Government Area of Benue State.
Security expert Zagazola Makama reported that the incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. on April 28 when more than 100 armed men allegedly attacked the Adiko community, reportedly crossing over from Ayinu in the Oju Local Government Area. The confrontation stemmed from a protracted land dispute between the neighboring communities.
Witnesses indicated that the assailants opened fire on residents during the invasion, resulting in two fatalities. The attackers also set homes ablaze and damaged crops in the area.
In response to the violence, security personnel and tactical operatives quickly arrived on the scene. The bodies of the victims were recovered and transported to the General Hospital in Obi for examination.
Officials from both local government areas have initiated peace talks involving the affected communities in an effort to stabilize the situation. Meanwhile, security agencies continue their investigations and have deployed additional personnel to uphold peace and deter further violence.
