Gunman Opens Fire at Zamboanga High School, Leaving Two Dead

ZAMBOANGA, Philippines (AP) — A shooting at a high school in Zamboanga City has resulted in the deaths of at least two individuals, including the suspected gunman, according to local authorities.

Mayor Khymer Adan Olaso confirmed on DZMM radio Tuesday that both casualties were students. The incident took place at Ateneo de Zamboanga University, where witnesses reported that the assailant, a seventh-grade student, opened fire within a classroom.

Regional police spokesperson Shellamie Chang stated that police were working to secure the campus, but she did not provide further details about the ongoing situation.

Authorities have not disclosed additional information regarding the incident as investigations continue.
