Two Suspects in Custody Following Murder in Akwa Ibom
UYO, Nigeria — Two suspects, identified as Idem Etim, a male, and Namkere Ikoboatang, a female, are in the custody of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command in connection with the murder of 27-year-old Okon from Iko Udo Obobo Village, located in the Ukanafun Local Government Area.
The police’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, announced the arrests in a statement issued on Sunday. According to the statement, the victim was discovered burned beyond recognition inside a room, with evidence indicating a violent and deliberate act.
Police operatives responded quickly to credible intelligence, securing the scene where Okon was found. A full investigation was initiated immediately.
“Through sustained intelligence-led operations and meticulous investigative efforts, two suspects have been arrested in connection with this heinous crime,” John stated.
The statement further indicated that the suspects are currently in custody and are providing information to assist with ongoing investigations.
Commissioner of Police Baba Mohammed Azare has directed a comprehensive investigation to ensure that all individuals involved are identified, apprehended, and brought to justice promptly.
