UCL: Germany legend Lothar Matthaus names 5 clubs to win trophy this season
Lothar Matthäus, a legend of German football, has identified five teams as favorites to secure the UEFA Champions League title this season.
The prestigious tournament is set to begin on Tuesday evening, featuring several matchups, including a highly anticipated clash between Real Madrid and Inter Milan at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
Last season, Paris Saint-Germain claimed the trophy after defeating Arsenal in the final. However, Matthäus believes the leading contenders for this year’s title include PSG, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona.
“In my opinion, the five favorites for the title this year are Arsenal, Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG, and Bayern Munich,” Matthäus stated in an interview with Sky Germany.
He noted that Real Madrid still faces challenges in forming a cohesive unit, as evidenced by their recent match against Real Betis. “Real Madrid needs to gel as a team, and there are still questions to be answered,” he added.
Matthäus also pointed out that manager José Mourinho faces the task of unifying the squad to achieve success in the tournament.
