Village head suspended in Jigawa over alleged confiscation of orphans’ property

Dutse Emirate Council Suspends Village Head Over Allegations of Misconduct

DUTSE, Nigeria — The Dutse Emirate Council in Jigawa State announced the suspension of Usaini Muhammad, the Village Head of Tsagewa in Miga District, amid allegations of misappropriating property belonging to orphans.

The suspension was disclosed in a statement by Alhaji Amadu Malami, the council’s secretary. The immediate action follows multiple accusations against Muhammad, which include the alleged confiscation of belongings belonging to orphans and the unauthorized sale of community farmlands.

In addition to the suspension, the emirate council has ordered Muhammad to return all funds in his possession within four weeks. The statement emphasized that village heads appointed by the emirate are expected to maintain public trust, safeguard the interests of the community, and adhere to their official oaths.
