Real Madrid manager José Mourinho has expressed a desire for the club’s players participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be eliminated from the tournament. This would allow them to return to the team in time for preseason preparations.
Mourinho shared his thoughts during an appearance on the “BeastModeOn” podcast. He noted that the squad includes notable players like Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Júnior, Aurélien Tchouaméni, Antonio Rüdiger, and Marc Cucurella, among others.
As many of these players are expected to progress deep into the tournament, Mourinho is concerned that their extended absence could limit his time to prepare for the upcoming season.
“What am I looking forward to in the World Cup? I want Real Madrid players to lose. Because I want them back for preseason with me in July,” Mourinho said.
