2027: Free, fair or not, we’re ready for anything - ADC
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) expressed its readiness for the 2027 general election, asserting confidence in its ability to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) provided the electoral process is fair and transparent.
Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC National Publicity Secretary, discussed the party’s outlook during an interview on the Naija Unfiltered Podcast. He addressed the potential challenges posed by a divided opposition while reiterating the party’s belief in its electoral prospects.
“We believe we can win this election in a free and fair environment,” Abdullahi stated, emphasizing the party’s concerns over the integrity of the electoral process.
He indicated that the ADC is prepared to safeguard its votes, implying that the APC may attempt to manipulate the upcoming election. Abdullahi remarked, “The challenge is: Will there be a free and fair election? We are ready for that. We are ready for anything.”
Further commenting on the political landscape, Abdullahi referenced remarks by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, regarding the Osun State governorship election. He interpreted Wike’s suggestion that he could have influenced the election outcome as indicative of the ruling party’s intentions. “What does that mean? That regardless of what the Osun people think, you have a way to deliver it? That’s a confession,” he said.
Abdullahi contended that the APC has resorted to intimidation tactics due to a decline in public support. “We know Nigerians have abandoned them. They understand that’s why they are threatening everybody,” he said.
As the ADC prepares for the 2027 election, Abdullahi emphasized the importance of protecting the party’s supporters and votes throughout the electoral process.
