2027: Nigerians won’t go to ‘Tinubu’s court’ to restore their mandates – Obidient Movement
The Obidient Movement has expressed its determination not to seek legal recourse from what it termed “President Bola Tinubu’s judiciary” regarding its electoral mandates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the movement reacted to a proposal from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to incorporate artificial intelligence into the electoral process for the upcoming polls. The group alleged that the electoral body is collaborating with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in a manner that could destabilize the country.
The movement criticized the AI proposal as a potential pathway to electoral fraud, stating, “If INEC proceeds with its plan for rigging the 2027 elections, Nigerians won’t go to Tinubu’s judiciary to beg for the restoration of their mandate.”
The Obidient Movement called for INEC to disclose its comprehensive plan for the 2027 elections, including details on the technologies, procedures, and safeguards it intends to utilize.
“The Nigerian judiciary has outlived its usefulness,” the statement read, asserting that it is the responsibility of INEC to uphold the people’s mandate. The movement warned that failure to do so could lead to excessive unrest in the country.
The movement urged INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan to reconsider the plan before it is too late.
