2027: Obidient General, Azomchine warns Nigerians against blind support for any presidential candidate

Political Strategist Cautions Against Blind Support for Presidential Candidates
Political strategist Ikenna Azomchine, a former supporter of Mr. Peter Obi’s presidential campaign, has issued a warning to Nigerians regarding the dangers of supporting political candidates without adequate scrutiny.
During an interview on Trust TV’s political program, Azomchine revealed that he is reevaluating his partisan affiliations as the country approaches the next electoral cycle. He described himself as the coordinator of the Obidient Movement, which previously backed Obi, now the candidate for the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).
Although Azomchine has distanced himself from Obi, he expressed disapproval of the vocal criticisms directed at the candidate by actor-turned-politician Kenneth Okonkwo.
Reflecting on his recent skepticism toward Obi’s campaign, Azomchine noted an unsuccessful attempt to engage Obi in discussions on strategies for winning the 2027 presidential election. According to Azomchine, Obi was unable to articulate a clear plan.
He indicated that the Obidient Movement might support the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, while still encouraging Obi to contribute constructive ideas for national improvement.
“I wanted him at the table to tell me how we would win in 2027, but he was never able to do that. There is no clear strategic roadmap ahead of the next general election,” Azomchine said.
He emphasized that movements like the Obidient Movement cannot thrive on sentiment alone without a practical strategy to secure executive power. “My insistence on detailed electoral planning is meant to protect the efforts of millions of followers who expect actual governance results rather than another round of avoidable losses,” he added.
Azomchine further stressed the importance of exploring alternative political options when existing leaders fail to provide concrete plans for victory and policy implementation.
“My ultimate goal remains finding a viable political platform that can deliver tangible economic progress for the country. I urge opposition elements to move past rhetoric and focus on creating realistic, measurable strategies if they truly want to remain relevant in the evolving national landscape,” he concluded.
