Firefighters prevent petrol station blaze from spreading in Kano

Firefighters in Kano State successfully controlled a fire that broke out at a petrol filling station in Rano Local Government Area on Tuesday night. The incident occurred at Tukur Muhammed Nigeria Limited, situated along Saya Saya Road.

Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer for the Kano State Fire Service, reported that the emergency response unit at Rano Fire Station received a distress call at approximately 9:20 PM from the station manager, Abubakar Umar.

Upon arrival, firefighters found flames engulfing a ground-floor building used as the filling station. The fire was traced back to a malfunctioning Mikano generator, which ignited and caused minor damage to the rear tyres of a CANTER vehicle. However, the quick response of the firefighting team was pivotal in preventing further spread of the fire to other parts of the facility.

The Kano State Fire Service concluded that the incident resulted from a fault in the generator. Director Alhaji Sani Anas emphasized the importance of fire safety and urged the public to remain vigilant. He recommended that residents and business owners ensure the availability of functional fire extinguishers and adhere to proper fire-safety protocols at all times.
