Newborn twins dumped in Benue bush

Twins Abandoned in Benue Rescued by Local Task Force
A pair of newborn twins were discovered abandoned in a bush in the Vandeikya Local Government Area of Benue State on Friday. The incident occurred in Mbaaji, specifically within the Ningev Council Ward, an area locally referred to as “Wangbeen Jor.”
Chief Daniel Orhembega, Chairman of the Local Government Task Force, reported that the twins were found during a routine sanitation exercise. He stated, “We were going to dispose of refuse when one of our men heard a baby crying. Following the sound, we found the twins wrapped in fresh leaves, accompanied by the placenta and a gown believed to belong to the mother.”
Witnesses indicated that one of the infants was crying loudly, while the other lay quietly, leading authorities to believe they had been abandoned shortly after birth. The twins were promptly transported to a nearby clinic for immediate medical care.
In a statement, Hon. Dennis Terkura Guda, the Chairman of Vandeikya Local Government, expressed outrage at the incident, labeling it as unacceptable. He visited the twins at the clinic, assumed responsibility for their welfare, and officially named them Guda-Alia (boy) and Alia-Doo (girl).
The twins are currently under the care of the Local Government Welfare Department. Meanwhile, Guda has urged residents to come forward with any information that could assist in identifying and apprehending the mother.
