Security Forces Arrest Three Suspected Bandits in Sokoto State

SOKOTO, Nigeria — Security forces apprehended three individuals suspected of banditry during an operation in the Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State. The arrests occurred on April 29 at approximately 10:00 a.m. along the Tangaza-Gidan Madi road, following intelligence reports of a potential attack in the region.

The suspects have been identified as Aliyu Bello, 30; Dahiru Umar, 25; and Bashar Isah, 29, all residents of Kwazari village in the Kware Local Government Area. They were intercepted while riding a motorcycle, believed to be affiliated with a criminal group engaged in kidnapping and extorting local communities.

Authorities seized several weapons from the suspects, including a locally manufactured AK-47 rifle, a magazine containing 17 rounds of ammunition, two Dane guns, two cartridges, and various charms. Reports indicate that the weapons were concealed within a sack tucked inside another bag to evade detection.
