Troops Arrest Two Suspected Terrorists in Yobe State
Yobe State — Troops from the 159 Battalion apprehended two individuals suspected of terrorism during a routine stop-and-search operation. The arrests occurred on April 30 at approximately 8:00 a.m. at a military checkpoint in Kanama.
The suspects, identified as Dahiru Mohammed, 40, and Ismail Adamu, 34, both from Geidam, were intercepted while returning from Damasak Market. Security sources reported that the routine search revealed suspicious items, leading to their detention.
Preliminary investigations indicated that incriminating images were found on the suspects’ mobile phones, suggesting potential links to terrorist organizations. Recovered items included two smartphones, a significant quantity of clothing, religious paraphernalia such as hijabs, turbans, prayer mats, beads, children’s clothing, and an umbrella. Additionally, ₦408,500 was seized.
The suspects are currently in military custody as authorities continue to investigate their possible connections to terrorist networks.
