Zamfara governor nominates ex-VC Prof Yahaya Abdullahi as commissioner
Governor Dauda Lawal Nominates Professor Yahaya Zakari Abdullahi to Zamfara State Executive Council
ZAMFARA, Nigeria — Governor Dauda Lawal has nominated Professor Yahaya Zakari Abdullahi as a commissioner and member of the Zamfara State Executive Council.
The nomination was submitted to the Zamfara State House of Assembly by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, for screening and approval in accordance with the Nigerian Constitution.
According to a statement from Suleman Ahmad Tudu, Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Secretary to the State Government, the State Assembly conducted a swift screening and confirmed the appointment during its 177th sitting on May 7, 2026.
Professor Abdullahi has a notable background in education and public service, boasting over two decades of experience in academia, policy development, and administration. He previously served as the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of Zamfara State University.
