Nigerian Police Arrest Eight Suspected Kidnappers in Nasarawa State

Nasarawa State, Nigeria – The Nigeria Police Force has made significant progress in its efforts to combat kidnapping and violent crime, arresting eight suspects during a coordinated security operation in Rukubi community.

The operation was prompted by a distress call received early Wednesday morning. Reports indicated that armed individuals had invaded the community the previous night, firing gunshots and instilling fear among residents.

According to Force Public Relations Officer Anthony Okon Placid, the assailants targeted the homes of two villagers, abducting two individuals before fleeing the scene.

In response, operatives from the Nasarawa State Police Command, working alongside other security agencies, local vigilante groups, and youth volunteers, conducted an intensive search that led to the apprehension of the suspects. Those arrested were identified as Adamu Alfa, Muhammed Alfa, Shuaibu Alfa, Usman Alfa, Ali Alfa, Isa Alfa, another Adamu Alfa, and Ja’afaru Alfa, all of whom are from Rugan Alhaji Alfa in Rukubi Village.

During the operation, security forces seized two AK-47 rifles, four Bajaj motorcycles, and two spent 7.62mm ammunition shells believed to have been used in the attack.

Authorities reported that one of the suspects sustained serious injuries during the operation and later died while undergoing treatment at a medical facility.

Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu commended the officers for their professionalism and rapid response. “The success of this operation highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-driven policing and collaboration among security agencies and community members in addressing violent crime,” Placid stated.

The police also acknowledged the crucial assistance provided by local vigilante groups and residents, noting their cooperation was instrumental in the operation’s success.
