Nigerian Army Neutralizes Three Suspected Terrorists in Katsina
KATSINA, Nigeria — Troops of the Nigerian Army operating under Operation Fansan Yamma neutralized three suspected terrorists in Katsina State during an ambush on Sunday evening.
The operation occurred along the Turare-Kitibawa-Kuka-Mai Damusa Road in the Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area. This information was reported by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency and security expert focused on the Lake Chad region.
Military sources revealed that the ambush was conducted by the 17 Brigade, stationed at the Forward Operating Base FUDMA, as part of ongoing efforts to combat terrorist and criminal activities in the area.
According to these sources, troops were positioned strategically along the route based on intelligence regarding the movement of fleeing militants from the Matazu general vicinity. The ambush was executed at approximately 9:40 p.m. on May 9, successfully intercepting the terrorists as they attempted to escape military operations underway in the region.
During the engagement, troops recovered an AK-47 rifle, a magazine containing three rounds of ammunition, a motorcycle, three cutlasses, assorted charms, and 3,500 Naira in cash.
Military authorities indicated that this operation is part of a broader strategy to dismantle terrorist networks and restore peace in Katsina and surrounding areas.
