2027: Your sweat, hustle must pay – Aisha Yesufu assures FCT residents

Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu has pledged to ensure that residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) receive fair returns on their contributions to society.
In a statement shared on her verified X account on Sunday, Yesufu outlined her vision for the FCT, emphasizing her commitment to sponsoring the Abuja Residents Empowerment Bill if elected as a senator in 2027.
Yesufu, a co-convener of the BringBackOurGirls Movement, stated that the proposed bill would include provisions for quotas for youth and women-led businesses in government contracts.
“The Rent Control component of my bill will protect residents from unjust rent increases. It will also address double taxation and include Skills Empowerment initiatives that equip Abuja residents with practical skills,” she said.
Additionally, she highlighted a plan to allocate a portion of Abuja’s tax revenue to provide micro-loans to support local businesses.
