Renewed Gang Violence Displaces Hundreds in Port-au-Prince

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) — Renewed clashes between rival gangs in Port-au-Prince have forced hundreds of families from their homes, with some now living on the streets. The ongoing violence has exacerbated an already dire situation, as more than 1.4 million people across Haiti have been displaced by gang-related activities.

Since the assassination of former President Jovenel Moïse in July 2021, gangs have increasingly gained control over the capital, now estimated to dominate 90% of the area. The continuous unrest poses significant challenges to the local population, which is grappling with a humanitarian crisis amid pervasive violence.
