Bauchi State Police Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect
Bauchi, Nigeria — The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended a 19-year-old suspect in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in Bara Village, located in the Kirfi Local Government Area. The suspect, Naziru Alhaji Usman, a resident of Tudun Sullubawa Hamlet, was taken into custody following an investigation into the incident that transpired in the early hours of May 9.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the robbery was reported at approximately 6 a.m. by Ibrahim, a local resident. The complainant informed authorities that around 3 a.m., five armed robbers invaded his home, attacking him with sticks and cutlasses before fleeing with several valuable items.
Among the possessions reported stolen were a bow and arrow, five mobile phones, two solar panels, and ₦422,000 in cash. Following the report, police operatives from the Bara Out Station and Kirfi Division initiated a prompt response, which included gathering intelligence that led to Usman’s arrest.
During the operation, officers recovered a bow and arrow, one cutlass, and one solar panel, believed to be linked to the robbery. The suspect is currently in police custody and is cooperating with investigators.
Authorities indicated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend additional suspects involved in the robbery and to recover the remaining stolen items. The case will be forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiry and potential prosecution.
Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, praised the quick actions of the police operatives and reiterated the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property throughout the state. He encouraged community members to continue providing timely and credible information, emphasizing the importance of public collaboration in combating crime.
