Youths attack Abia LP Rep over alleged poor performance

Lawmaker Booed at Constituency Event in Abia State

Alozie Munachim, the representative for the Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo Federal constituency in Abia State, faced significant backlash during a political event on Thursday as he addressed constituents in Obingwa.

Upon taking the microphone, Munachim was met with loud boos from a group of youths who criticized his performance in office. The audience expressed their dissatisfaction by shouting, “Dede lotuo, igaghi aga ozo, nke igara aga, adighi ihe anyi huru,” which translates to, “Senior, please step down, you won’t go again, we are not feeling any good impact of the one you are currently representing.”

Munachim attempted to counter the negative reception by discussing his achievements during his tenure, but his efforts were persistently interrupted by the crowd.

In response to the incident, supporters of the lawmaker condemned the youths’ actions, labeling them as violent and embarrassing.

Kenneth Nzube, a member of Munachim’s support group, commented on the situation, stating, “The behavior of the youths was provocative and could have sparked off violence, but I am happy that Honourable Alozie maintained his usual peaceful character.”

The incident highlights ongoing tensions in the constituency regarding the effectiveness of elected representatives and the expectations of constituents.
