Delta: Police nab five suspects, recover revolver pistol, Indian hemp

Delta State Police Arrest Five Suspects in Drug and Weapon Seizures
Delta State police have arrested five individuals and confiscated a locally made revolver along with 10 bags of substances suspected to be Indian hemp.
The arrests occurred on May 30, 2026, around 5:30 a.m., when a surveillance team from the Asaba Area Command conducted a routine patrol near the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) in Asaba. The team intercepted three suspects: Musa Sule, 22, Moses Sunday, 26, and Osama Ibrahim, 25. During a search of the suspects, officers discovered the revolver and other dangerous weapons.
In a separate incident on May 29, 2026, at approximately 4:00 a.m., operatives from the State Anti-Kidnapping Unit (SAKU) conducted a stop-and-search operation along the Onitsha-Benin Expressway. They intercepted an ash-colored Mercedes-Benz station wagon carrying two occupants: Hilary Aloma and Oki Joseph, also known as “Big Joe.” A thorough search revealed 10 bags of suspected Indian hemp concealed within the vehicle.
Initial investigations indicated the drugs were being transported from Edo State to Awka, Anambra State, prior to the suspects’ apprehension.
Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrests and stated that the suspects are currently in custody while the recovered items have been secured as evidence. Investigations are ongoing to determine the scope of the criminal network involved and to identify any other accomplices associated with the trafficking operation.
Commissioner of Police Yemi Oyeniyi praised the operatives for their diligence and professionalism. He also issued a warning to those engaged in illegal firearm possession, drug trafficking, or cult-related activities, emphasizing that such behavior will result in strict legal consequences.
