Super Falcons Begin Preparations for International Friendlies Against Senegal

The Super Falcons of Nigeria, reigning champions of Africa, have commenced training camp in preparation for two international friendlies against Senegal. Head coach Justine Madugu announced a 23-player roster on Sunday.

Players are expected to start arriving at the training camp today, according to information released by the team’s media officer.

Both matches are set to take place at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne. The first friendly is scheduled for Friday, June 5, followed by the second match on Monday, June 8.

These friendlies will serve as crucial preparation for the upcoming 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which will be held in Morocco in July.

Nigeria is drawn in Group C alongside tournament debutants Malawi, Zambia, and Egypt. Senegal will compete in Group A with Morocco, Algeria, and Kenya.

The WAFCON 2026 finals will also function as qualifiers for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, with the top four semi-finalists representing Africa on the global stage next year.
