Former French international Bixente Lizarazu has selected Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal as his frontrunner for the prestigious Ballon d’Or, surpassing notable competitors such as Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe.
Lizarazu praised Yamal, highlighting his remarkable skills and recent improvement in performance.
“I am going to try to stick to my criteria. For me, it’s no contest anymore—it’s Lamine Yamal,” Lizarazu stated in an interview with Actu Foot via Téléfoot.
He acknowledged that while Yamal’s World Cup performance may not have been exceptional, his achievements—including a World Cup title and a championship in La Liga—underscore his status as a “phenomenal player.”
